Product Specifications

The same technology that went into staying hooked up with the IGFA world record 573lb Blue Marlin is the same technology that goes into every spool of Stren’s Original monofilament fishing line.  Stren has found the perfect balance between superior knot and shock strength as well as abrasion resistance, line limpness and controlled stretch.  When it comes to monofilament fishing lines all others try to live up to the standards that Stren set with the Original monofilament.
Stren Original comes in four main colors: clear/blue fluorescent, low-vis clear and hi-vis gold.  The clear/blue fluorescent is perfect for most fishing applications, disappearing under the water and refracting light above the water so you can keep an eye on your line easily.  The low-vis clear is perfect for gin clear waters and hi-vis orange for strike detection and line watching.  Lo-vis green is excellent when the water is tannic or stained, or in areas where algae and vegetation is heavy.

What I Think

You are going to be hard pressed to find another ultralight line that can stand up to Stren Original.  It’s set the bar high in terms of monofilament lines because of the years of research and development that has gone into creating each spool.  When you want a line that is easy to see but will not spook the fish you’re chasing after you will definitely want to consider tying on Stren Original to your ultralight reel.  Stren Original is available in 4lb test for heavier ultralight fishing conditions.
