Product Specifications

Shimano broke the mold with their Clarus line of spinning rods.  Each rod is built with a high modulus IM7 graphite blank that provides finely balanced power, and a perfect level of sensitivity and accuracy.  The grade A cork handle, coupled with the exposed reel seat and aluminum oxide Fuji guides provide a long lasting, super sensitive setup.  As if this weren’t enough, Shimano includes their own lifetime warranty on the rod, making it incredibly easy to get a replacement shipped to you if any problems ever do arise.

What I Think

I think that the Shimano Clarus rods are providing exceptional performance at incredibly competitive prices compared to some of the other models that are on the market.  The 5’6” ultralight models are great for crappie and trout.  The rods been dropped on the rocks, in the sand, fallen down hills into streams, and walked through quite a few rough paths without having a single problem with the blank.  Even after 3 years it’s still as sensitive as the day I bought it, and doesn’t show any signs of its age.  That’s a true testament to the level of quality that Shimano puts into their products.

The shorter 5’6” length makes this the perfect size for casting under overhanging banks, and brush piles in your tight streams.  If you are looking for a setup that will portage well but still provide you with the level of sensitivity and accuracy that you need to target spooky trout, and deep bedded crappie, you will love the Shimano Clarus line of rods.
